SPRING TIME
The spring holidays
come early this year. Easter and Ascension Day usually indicates the end of the calm and peaceful season
for our beloved Ljugarn. It may be time to remember some of what have happened lately.
STRONG WINDS
The winter
was lacking snow but offered plenty of wind from time to time. In the end of February
the storm winds really shaked the trees. Here is a picture from the beach road (Strandvägen).

MILD WINTER PLEASES CONSTRUCTORS
There
are still a lot of construction and renovation work ongoing in the community. The warm weather
have made it easier with concreting and other outdoor work. There will be a number of new
views to look at for returning summer visitors. Here is a new construction on the bath road
(Badvägen).

PARISH OF THE YEAR
In
December last year Ardre with Ljugarn was elected as parish of the year
2008. "Ardre have not only a rich parish and culture life. Here the
businesses are flourishing and it is planned for many new constructions.
All this demonstrates on a willingness to invest for the future - Ardre is a parish that lives
today", was the opinion from the jury.

The price have initiated activities in the parish and community center
organisations. A "Parish of the year"-
committee works febrile to shape a content rich program for the jubilee year. A web page is on its way,
see
here >>>.
SHED AT THE COUNTRY PIER ON FIRE
In
conjuction with a burglary in September last year the shed at the country
pier was caught on fire. The building that was used by
Ljugarns fishermens organisation as office and storage was totally destroyed. In
the building 70 year old documents and protocols was stored. The document safe
opened and was laying on the floor.
(September 2008)
Also totally destroyed was the life jacket depot that
the Swedish Life Saving Society (Svenska Livräddningssällskapet) on Gotland had there.
SLS Gotland will however try to replace the life jackets so that the depot will be
fully functioning for the summer.
